Abacus learning began with a vision of providing a spark to ignite the potential within all of us. We believe that each of us has the capability to grow and develop. Abacus learning would like to be the catalyst to this growth. This reflects the various projects undertaken by the company.


The projects include:

  •  A Team Building intervention involving the Belbin

  • Profiling of all team members and being the catalyst in the initial period of a Tea

  • A Rejuvenation EDP for a client starting a Greenfield project in Dahej, Gujarat

  •  A team building intervention for HR team in a Engineering Industry, Pune.

  •  Designing, developing and delivering a “Supervisory Development Program” for Baroda Management Association and CII, Vadodara

  •  A team building intervention in a Tyre manufacturing company for their Self Managed Teams (SMTs) participants integrating the inexperienced yet enthusiastic team members and experienced senior team managers

  •  A program developing personal excellence in a department in an energy company’s R&D Department

  •  Develop the Change Management and Resilience skills in the identified participants in Web Design Company

  • Developing Leadership competencies in employees

Kalpana wears two hats-that of an industrial Psychologist and a Human Resource Professional.She has been in the learning and development field for last eighteen years. She began her career with an engineering company in Mumbai. Her entrepreneurial instinct made her establish Abacus Learning. She is an accredited Belbin Team Roles Facilitator. She has a masters in management Studies from Somaiya Institute of Management Studies (University of Mumbai) and Masters in Industrial Psychology (University of Mumbai).


She is doing  Ph. D. under Dr. Urmi from Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU), Baroda. She is a life member of Baroda Management Association (BMA) and of Indian Society of Training and Development (ISTD). She is an experienced facilitator. Kalpana has extensive experience working with the public and private sectors, helping employees respond effectively to organisational learning and development initiatives. Her philosophy towards learning is that learning is more effective if the participants participate in experiential learning activities and draw conclusions based on their experience. She is a visiting faculty at Faculty of Social Work and Faculty of Psychology in MSU, Baroda in their Masters Program in HR and Psychology respectively.

Abacus Learning believes in making complex concepts experiential and simple. Just the way an Abacus helps make mathematical concepts experiential, simple yet faster, we envision that our methods will help make the complex behavioral concepts and interventions simple but at the same time they will be internalized by the participants making them readily available for use. The method develops amongst the participants an ownership of the concept.
